The Feast of San Gennaro takes place every September in Manhattan's Little Italy.

The 90th annual Feast of San Gennaro is scheduled to begin Thursday, September 15 in New York City’s historic Little Italy, the lower Manhattan neighborhood where many immigrants from Italy settled in the early part of the 20th century when they first arrived on U.S. soil.

The event is organized by Figli di San Gennaro, Inc. (Children of San Gennaro), a not-for-profit community organization “dedicated to keeping alive the spirit and faith of the early Italian immigrants.” The festival, which features religious processions, colorful parades, musical entertainment and a wide variety of ethnic food delicacies (including a cannoli-eating competition), is expected to attract thousands of visitors. The highlight of the event is the Salute to the Patron Saint of Naples on September 19.

The Feast of San Gennaro will run until Sunday, September 25.
