Description

The Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) of San Francisco is an office of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs dedicated to the promotion of Italian language and culture in the San Francisco Bay Area and throughout Northern California, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington and the US Pacific Islands. Through events produced in connection with the Italian Consulate General of San Francisco, in collaboration with numerous local institutions and Italian-American organizations, the Institute fosters cultural exchange between Italy and the US with the goal of presenting Italy’s cultural richness and contributions in the visual arts, literature, cinema, design, theater, music, science, and technology. Under the direction of Annamaria Di Giorgio since 2019, the Institute’s initiatives include academic exchanges, art exhibits, support and awards programs for the translation and publication of Italian books, and the promotion of Italian studies.

In a continued effort to offer a rich selection of programming during the pandemic, the Institute currently organizes a variety of online events and webinars. In addition, the IIC maintains a robust presence on its social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
